Mock up for something before class last year, didn’t go ahead with it. Pertaining to a particular quote from Harold Lasswell which was quite delightful, mhmm. *ahem*
””[A] new and subtler instrument must weld thousands and thousands and even millions of human beings into one amalgamated mass of hate, will and hope. A new will must burn out the canker of dissent and temper the steel of bellicose enthusiasm. The name of this new hammer and anvil of social solidarity is propaganda. Talk must take the place of drill; print must supply the dance. War dances live in literature, and at the fringes of the modern earth; war propaganda breathes and fumes in the capitals and provinces of the world.”
In context, the quote was being used by Danny Schechter, as he labelled the news services’ coverage of the Iraqi war (and such) as war mongering propaganda (from what I remember).
The wikileaks witch-hunt, everyone come on down and grab a pitch fork! Convene at the town hall around noon, then spread out across the country, nabbing loose-lips where ever they may flap. It’ll be a rip roaring good time! Remember, always have a buddy to watch your back!
